Dear Friend,

I have no idea what has gotten into me (more on this later).

Call it boredom. Call it stupidity. But certainly don't call it "corporate burn out." I don't have a high pressure morning commute, boss breathing down my neck day job to be stressed out about.

My day usually begins after my daughter goes to school at 7:45am. I log on to my list of companies that I earn money with and spend around an hour working. I generally take a break around 9:00am and watch my favorite talk show (the ball headed guy).  Afterwards I usually take a walk down to the park located in the center of my neighborhood and let my two dogs play for about an hour.

After eating lunch I usually work for another 45 minutes to and hour and a half. By then it's time to pick my daughter up from school so I wrap things up for the day.

I started working for minimum wage when I was 16 years old. I never once had a job that I looked forward to getting up for and going to. Sometimes I wondered why I should even get out of bed at all. I usually found myself looking for a reason to quit or why I shouldn't go in but it didn't matter because I had no choice.

In May of 2000 I gave birth to my daughter. I tried going back to work but not being there for my newborn weighed so heavily on my mind that my performance began to suffer.  I knew right away this was not something that I could do.

I'll never forget On June 2, 2000. My boss came into my cubicle and said," You need to decide if you're going to play mommy or do your job because otherwise that decision would be made for you."

Without a moments hesitation I gathered up my things and walked out the door for the last time.

Not only was this a huge relief because I hated my job (I worked in accounts payable) but it was an enormous stress because we were dependent on my income to pay our bills and medical benefits.

I spent months searching around online before almost giving up because I thought it was going to cost me a fortune to start working from home.
